Dr Musa has practised as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist since 2002. She has worked in various clinical settings (NHS surgeries and hospitals), private healthcare (outpatient clinics and residential placements) and universities (therapist on randomised controlled trials). She has also worked in the role of an expert witness to assist with court proceedings. She has a wealth of knowledge, experience and specialist skills in psychological assessment, formulation, treatment and consultation.
Dr Musa is highly trained to deliver a variety of evidence-based psychological therapies. She is an accredited Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist (CBT). She is formally trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and has extensive experience of using techniques from Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Schema-Focussed Therapy (SFT), and Psychodynamic approaches.
Dr Musa has worked with individuals, couples and families presenting with a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. She is particularly specialised in the assessment and treatment of emotional dysregulation (i.e., anger, anxiety and depression) and symptoms associated with Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorders (OCD) and psychological trauma (i.e., PTSD/Complex Trauma). She also offers consultation and supervision to health professionals and reflective practice to staff groups/services. Dr Musa values the importance of offering people a confidential and trusting therapeutic relationship. Her insightful, empathic and experienced approach helps people to engage meaningfully and effectively in their assessment and/or therapy and to develop a shared understanding of how their problem(s) started, are triggered and maintained, and what would help to reduce their severity, or make them disappear.
